Life and breath
To paraphrase the substitute yoga teacher, "Fit the pose into your breath and not your breath into the pose" and this got me thinking that I should fit life more into me than me into life, so I raise my half-caf coffee cup to the improved, but not new me.

Turn your screens off....
Yesterday my daughter and I met a friend of hers and the friend's mother for brunch and the mother talked about how they have "screenless" time and I can't wait to introduce it in my house which I am sure will cause some freak-outs my daughter (Disney channel, Nickelodeon, and Ipad games) and my husband (who often works on Sunday).

In the Kitchen on Thursday: Lean meatballs
1 lb. Ground Turkey
1 C. oats
1 egg
1 tbsp. dried sage
salt and pepper to taste
2 Tbsp. Sunflower oil
1 jar tomato sauce (I like Barilla Marinara)
Mix all ingredients together except oil. When thoroughly mixed, shape into 12 balls. Place oil in 10" skillet and heat. Brown meatballs on each side. Add the jar of sauce and reduce heat to simmer the pot. The meatballs will finish cooking in the sauce. Serve over your favorite pasta and garnish with grated cheese. Serves 6.

A great idea from an 8 year old
Last night I called a family meeting to discuss the morning rush and the fact that my daughter whines the whole way to school when we are late and she came up with the rule, "No Ipad on school mornings" which impressed her father and I and made for a great walk to school this morning.

Friday: Calm after the storm
I spent yesterday running to and from home because I forgot things (at one point my wallet), so today it feels good to get out of town for the weekend for some overdue couples time, which a childless friend said was the key to a good marriage after the arrival of kid and it only took me several years to believe her (Thanks, Sabina) and to my hubby, I can't wait.

A salesman's words
Wednesday's Words from Richard Branson
"All startups should be thinking What frustrates me and how can I make it better? It might be a small thing or it might be a big thing, but that's the best way for them to think. If they think like that, they are likely to build a very successful business." -- Richard Branson (in Entrpreneur magazine)

Tuesday's Tip: Fluffy rice
When cooking any rice, place a folded dish towel under the lid to absorb the steam (this way it does not drip back into the pot).

A happier marriage
While thinking about what to write today, I read an article that said sharing in chores was number 3 on a list of what made a marriage happy and then I wondered how I get my husband to do more chores, any ideas?!

Try something new and you may be surprised
Today I set up and tried my new document scanner and now I am in love and dreaming of papers I can scan not to mention that my mom now has the chicken recipes I promised her middle of the week with no need for a photocopier, a stamp or a visit to her apartment.

Where did the time go?...TV
While watching TV can be very relaxing as in yesterday afternoon when my husband and daughter were out, I am beginning to see it as a time drain, especially when reruns of my favorite shows are on during the day and I work from home—TV lunch anyone?!

Exercise pays off
Today, I had a professional photographer (who is a friend) take my portrait and sitting on the stool worked my leg muscles, so I am glad I take a TRX class once a week.
