A weekend away........
I have spent this weekend away in a house by a lake. I have been coming to this place for over 40 years and it still holds the ability to quiet my mind, relax my body and help me find clarity. This weekend my clarity came in new understanding on my life moving forward, writing a first draft of a document for my business and looking deeper into my relationship with my already teenage at 11 y.o daughter. I am always grateful for these weekends of reflection. Even more grateful that my parents had the foresight to buy this place 40 years ago and see in it a respite from city life. I hope that future generations that come here will also see its beauty, find rest and gain clarity. And to boot, Marco (the dog) feels right at home in the house and by the lake.

A massage many years ago taught me a valuable lesson—Let go at the beginning
Many years ago I had a Shaitsu massage end the practitioner said to me at the end that was I know calm enough to begin and that is how I felt at the end of this weekend after spending days in a cabin nestled among trees by a lake that I was ready to let "cranky" go and let in peace and tranquility—only we were driving home, so next time I better start earlier in the weekend to let go.

What I learned from having a new fence installed-- Quiet Time
At this very moment work is being done our house (new front fence, backyard lights and basement drain) and I am realizing that as a house needs to be reviewed and updated every so often, so do we as humans and that is what quiet reflection time is for, so today amid the sounds of drills and hammers, I plan to take some quiet time (and hope to do so every day this week) and you should too.

De-cluttering in the rain.....
A rainy day is keeping me inside and allowing me to exercise my mind by getting a lot of work and organizing done, so my brain and desk are no longer cluttered—this is an awesome feeling.

It is finally spring out...
Today I got my first iced coffee of the warm weather seasons and took a walk in a local park, where I brainstormed, listened to good music, partook of some overdue sunshine and hopefully burned a few calories—a great way to start the weekend.

A mother/daughter day any mother would want
Today my daughter and I spent the day together (she is still on school break) cleaning, organizing, having lunch with daddy and when the museum was closed, walking around, buying a book and running errands, so I am grateful that my 8 year old has a go-with-the-flow attitude when needed.

Where did the time go?...TV
While watching TV can be very relaxing as in yesterday afternoon when my husband and daughter were out, I am beginning to see it as a time drain, especially when reruns of my favorite shows are on during the day and I work from home—TV lunch anyone?!

Is it the weekend yet?
Last Friday, I got a head start on the weekend and I could use a head start again except I have to edit copy for my new website, meet a friend for lunch and pay a visit to the gym (if I intend to lose another 10 lbs. like my doctor wants).

The start of the weekend....
My plans for today got cancelled, so what to do—start the weekend and catch-up on much needed rest and down time and oh, do I love it.

It's Friday
Taking the day relaxing and letting my mind rest hoping that my creative juices will once again be flowing (they were dammed by lack of sleeping well for a few nights).

A lesson in perserverance--Skiing
I went cross country skiing with my mother and daughter today and my daughter fell quite a bit (it was only her second time) and each time she got up, even when she was ready to quit, so I learned from my 8 year old what perseverance really is--Thanks, sweetie!

Celebration and a cold
Yesterday, I had a tea party with family and close friends to celebrate my birthday (Thanks, mom for hosting at your place) and now my cold has attacked with a vengeance and so today, I will be sipping more tea and more tea and more tea.

A wonderful Sunday....
Nothing beats window shopping in housewares and furnitures stores and superb lunch with my nearly 8-year old fashionista, interior decorator daughter and lucky for her daddy had other plans, since most of the furniture would be too modern for his tastes.

A remedy for a cold--SUN
Spending the end of vacation with a bad cold, but sitting in a terrace in the sun is an excellent remedy, quite relaxing and a great way to the end the year (if you minus the cold).
