Now I do it...

Today is March 8th and I just sat down to write out my personal, family and business goals for 2016. I used last years goals as my template and they were done on March 8th too. Freaky! As a personal productivity coach, I know first hand about setting goals and why it is important. I preach this to my clients. Yet, it took me this long to do mine. Why? Simple I hadn't made it a priority. Next year I am committing myself to having my goals done by January 8, 2017. I just ask my community to hold me accountable and email me on January 8th to make sure I have done it.

Banner Day....

Ok, so here is my banner day...
1. Great weekly networking meeting
2. Awesome meeting with my Life Insurance Broker—she aligned her company with a bigger outfit and the services she can offer are extraordinary. I can't wait to see her office next week.
3. Finally made it to the pottery studio to copy the plastic tray of my mom's, so she can have a ceramic version. It has a design to it, but since she reads my blog (thanks, mom), I will not share it now.
4. Got to work on my Personal Productivity workshop—with the aid of Google Docs and voice dictation.
5. Baked dessert for a dinner party Saturday night and made the dough for cookies for brunch on Saturday morning (I already made a batch of different cookies for the brunch).

Now you see why I call it a banner day. Was you day a banner day? If not, try and have one soon.

I forgot....

I forgot to practice what I preach and didn't write down the sites I needed to visit on the internet and now I can only remember one of the two, which makes me more convinced of writing your to-do list at night for the next day.

Connections, Networking and LinkedIn

Every time I go to the LinkedIn page "people you might know",  I look at the pictures wondering how I know the person and realize that I don't know him/her; it is just that I have seen his/her photo so many times on this page that I feel I should know them and wonder what would happen if I sent an invitation.

Im the Kitchen on Thursday: Recipe for an Apology of sorts

I want o apologize to my readers and followers for not keeping up with my blog of late—life got busy with the start of school, more clients, frizzy hair (that needed taming) and some personal needs that needed not be neglected any more and so now I am back in full force and ready to go.

(P.S. The main ingredient in an apology is honesty with a pinch or two of humility and humor.)

In the kitchen on Thursday...Buying in bulk

A few months back I made my fist trip to a bulk store. I was so excited to get large packages of items that were gigantic sized or multiples of a smaller size. Friends and family had raved and my mother, who I went with, was dying to check it out. She liked  it and I didn't. Why? She is one and I am three in my household. Whatever she buy is just for her. My daughter was with us, so we bought some snacks for her and I still have some left and she is tired of them. The cleaning products were a steal, the food items not so much. I am glad that my local grocery store is still in business and won't be folding anytime soon. Just my thoughts.

Eating slower, needed but not by choice

For many months I have noticed that I eat my meals too fast and have been trying to slow down to no effect, until carpal tunnel syndrome forced me to use my left hand to eat and using the "wrong" hand has me eating slower (and losing weight)

One bite at at time

Since being diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, doing things such as writing, typing and my favorites cooking and knitting are hard, so to work on a marketing postcard I am doing one piece of it a day and by weeks end a draft copy will be done and I am following the advice I give my clients to break projects into multiple tasks and do one at a time.

Tuesday's Tip on writing...

Back when I (and you) were in school we learned the outline method to mapping out a paper/essay, well use it for that memo, presentation or article (as I did for my upcoming newsletter article for March)

Tuesday's Tip: Master your to-do list

February is National Time Management month so master your to-do list by prioritizing the items on it, so each day you get the most important things done first.

The power of networking.......

Over lunch, I met the editor of Daisy magazine and today I signed a contract to be a contributing writer and this along with seeing my byline in previous issues has sent me over the top (and also the editor and I really get along).

This just in...a cook book for FREE

All the recipes from the blog last year are available in one Pdf, so you can make them throughout the year (healthy waffles, sweet sugar cookies, baked tofu and Bok Choy, etc.) and store on your bookshelf. I have one on my shelf despite it being over crowded with books from my antique cookbook collection (I have one from 1851).

Typos and tracking

I have been tracking my typos as I said I would and I average one per post, which is better than I thought it would be, but still not good, so keep the comments/feedback coming.
