People you may know...
Every time I log into LinkedIn to make a connection, I land on the "people you may know" page. At this point, I have seen the pictures enough to think I know a person, when I really don't. The same can be said for Facebook. Facebook will tell you that you might know so and so, who is friends with your cousin and you've never even met the friend. After repeatedly seeing the photos, you may think you know them. For a while, I thought I was losing my mind and then I realized its not me its the site. Now I don't go to those "people you may know" pages, unless the site takes me there. This keeps my mind at peace and my sanity in tack.

Banner Day....
Ok, so here is my banner day...
1. Great weekly networking meeting
2. Awesome meeting with my Life Insurance Broker—she aligned her company with a bigger outfit and the services she can offer are extraordinary. I can't wait to see her office next week.
3. Finally made it to the pottery studio to copy the plastic tray of my mom's, so she can have a ceramic version. It has a design to it, but since she reads my blog (thanks, mom), I will not share it now.
4. Got to work on my Personal Productivity workshop—with the aid of Google Docs and voice dictation.
5. Baked dessert for a dinner party Saturday night and made the dough for cookies for brunch on Saturday morning (I already made a batch of different cookies for the brunch).
Now you see why I call it a banner day. Was you day a banner day? If not, try and have one soon.

The world wide web...
Today, I set-up a Yelp page for my business because a local solopreneur told me that she got the bulk of her clients through her business's Yelp page and when I signed up I saw that I could put up my 2 session special (now for back-to-school) as a "deal", so now I am putting me and my business out there.

Tuesdauy's Tip: Networking
When you collect a business card make a note of where you met them, so when you follow-up later you can mention the event to jog their memory.

Connections, Networking and LinkedIn
Every time I go to the LinkedIn page "people you might know", I look at the pictures wondering how I know the person and realize that I don't know him/her; it is just that I have seen his/her photo so many times on this page that I feel I should know them and wonder what would happen if I sent an invitation.

Tuesday's Tip: Gift Cards
Don't toss out those unwanted business cards you got at the networking event, recycle them by using the blank side as a gift card. If you want you can glue the printed side to some paper and cut it out to make a fun gift card.
(P.S. For paper, I use glossy spreads in the newspaper or pages of a magazine.)

A networking lesson
When my father started at a new law firm, after 26 years at the first and only law firm he worked for, he took every other partner out to lunch to get to know them and how they practice their specialty of law, I carry this lesson with me whenever I am networking—really get to know a person (Coffee, anyone?) and most of all work at it (hence, my joining BNI for their weekly meetings).

On being prepared....
For a networking meeting yesterday, members were asked to bring in an item that represented their business and I heard so many people say, "I forgot it at home" that I heard myself say an equal number of times, "Pack it the night before" that I realized that enough people know that you less likely to forget an item or hunt for keys if you pack you bag the night before.

The power of networking.......
Over lunch, I met the editor of Daisy magazine and today I signed a contract to be a contributing writer and this along with seeing my byline in previous issues has sent me over the top (and also the editor and I really get along).
